Pittsburgh AI Startup Tercero Technologies Awarded U.S. Department of Defense Contract

January 3, 2020

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh-based artificial intelligence startup Tercero Technologies announced that it was awarded a contract to develop machine learning technologies for the U.S. Department of Defense. This contract, funded under the U.S. Department of Defense’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, will involve demonstrating the feasibility of using artificial intelligence techniques to analyze realtime sensor data to allow U.S. forces to respond to threats more effectively.

“Our team is excited to develop and eventually commercialize technologies that will be used to help keep our U.S. forces safe,” says Carl P. Evans III, Founder of Tercero Technologies. “We are at a point where AI and machine learning tools are mature enough, and embedded hardware is powerful and efficient enough, to support high-performance machine learning inference in the field.”

The contract is the result of the competitive SBIR selection process. “The SBIR program is truly America’s Seed Fund and has helped launch many successful companies,” Evans added.
